Wali Kota Surabaya Eri Cahyadi rumangsa prihatin klawan nasibe para mahasiswa sing asale saka keluarga miskin ora bisa mbayar kuliah ing perguruan tinggi swasta (PTS) dinane iki. Rasa sedih mau muncul sawise Wali Kota Eri mireng sesambate (curhatan) rektor-rektor PTS ing Surabaya sing kagabung jroning Asosiasi Badan Penyelenggara Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (ABP-PTSI) Jawa Timur.
Sarampunge nggelar sapatemon karo ABP-PTSI, Walikota Eri ngandhakake yen akeh mahasiswa saka keluarga prasejahtera sing mlebu kategori Desil 1-5 kuliah ing PTS. Cak Eri saya miris ngerti critane sawijining rektor yen ana mahasiswa sing meh drop out (DO) amarga telat bayar dhuwit kuliah tunggal (UKT).
Sawise sapatemon mau Pemkot Surabaya arep mbantu mbayari UKT kanggo mahasiswa PTS saka keluarga Desil 1-5, ujare Cak Eri. Ora mung iku, jroning wektu cedhak iki Pemkot uga bakal ngrevisi Peraturan Wali Kota (Perwali) lawas bab tata cara aweh beasiswa.
“Tegese, sing kudune tak garap selaras sumpahku minangka wali kota yaiku ngentas kemiskinan, bantu wong miskin, dudu sing sugih. Mula, aku uga kudu mbantu sing ana PTS supaya bisa dadi sarjana lan ngowahi nasib keluargane,” ujare Wali Kota Eri, Minggu (25/1/2026).
Miturut temone para rektor, ana atusan mahasiswa miskin ing PTS, contone ana 300 dhewe sing kuliah ing STIESIA.
Mula kuwi Wali Kota Eri printah marang Dinas Kebudayaan, Kepemudaan, Olahraga lan Pariwisata (Disbudporapar) kutha Surabaya enggal nindakake sinkronisasi data antarane Pemkot karo PTS.
“Perlu dicocokake data mahasiswa sing mlebu Desil 1-5 karo data kita, trus diwenehi bantuan,” tandhese.
Sawise sinkron, Pemkot Surabaya bisa enggal aweh bantuan UKT. Bantuan ora mung kanggo sing anyar, nanging uga sing lagi kuliah lan kangelan mbayar.
“Saengga iki bisa nggerakna program ‘Satu Keluarga Miskin, Satu Sarjana’ ing Surabaya,” ujare.
Bantuan iki diajab bisa aweh semangat supaya ora ana maneh mahasiswa DO gara-gara UKT.
“Ana sing ngomong ‘ora mood kuliah, aku mesthi di DO iki’ merga ora bisa mbayar UKT. Insyaallah mengko kita kumpulake, amrih duwe semangat lan bisa ngowahi ekonomi keluargane,” tambahe Cak Eri.
Manut Cak Eri UKT gratis iki ora diwatesi kuotane, saliyane kuwi calon mahasiswa uga bebas milih PTS ngendi wae ing Surabaya.
“UKT iku urusane pemkot karo PTS. Tapi aku ngajarake kejujuran liwat tes apa kuwi SNBT, SNBP, utawa tes kang ana ing swasta saengga padha duwe kalodhangan kang padha. Kanthi mangkono pemerintah temen-temen ana kanggo wong sing ora mampu,” tandhese.
Sauntara kuwi Ketua ABP-PTSI Jawa Timur Dr. Budi Endarto ngalembana inisiatif iki minangka terobosan wani saka Walikota Eri Cahyadi.
